Final Candidates Selected

The Board of Education has identified two finalists for interviews in the search for Holt Public Schools’ next superintendent. The position will become vacant following Dr. David Hornak’s announcement in December that he plans to retire at the end of the current school year.

A total of nineteen candidates applied for the superintendent position, including nine with previous superintendent experience. The search process is being coordinated by the Michigan Association of School Boards.

The two finalists selected for interviews are:

Thursday, March 19, 2026

4:30 p.m. – Adel DiOrio, Ed.D., Associate Superintendent of Instruction & Technology, Montcalm Area ISD

5:45 p.m. – Hal Heard III, M.Ed., Executive Director of Student Services, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools

Interviews will be held at Holt Public Schools Administrative Building, 5780 W. Holt Road, Holt. The Board of Education invites families, district staff and members of the learning community to attend. Each of the interviews will include an opportunity to provide written feedback. Copies of feedback forms will be presented to the board.
