Chaperones and Volunteers

School Visitors/Background Check Information:

Holt Public Schools is using a new background check system at each building for visitors and volunteers. All visitors and volunteers are required to provide acceptable identification to be scanned by the background check system every visit. Photo identification is required for each visit and when entering any school building during school hours. Cleared visitors will be given an ID badge to be worn and visible while in the building and will turn in the ID badge before exiting the building.

Who is a Visitor or Volunteer?

A visitor or volunteer is anyone who will be in any student space during the school day such as a classroom, lunchroom, fieldtrip, class presentation and is not a current student or staff member at the school.  Vendors and contractors who will be working on-site during the school day in locations where students are present are considered visitors. Parents/guardians attending a scheduled meeting with school staff and those who are escorted in student areas during school hours will not be required to scan their IDs.

What are Acceptable Forms of Identification?

Acceptable forms of identification must contain the visitor’s name, birth date, and a photograph.

  • U.S. or foreign driver’s license
  • U.S. or foreign government ID
