rules and expectations
Rules:
1) Students must see teachers for make up work.
2) Students must have a pass while in the hall.
3) Students must remove hats, sunglasses and head phones upon entering the school building.
4) Students must put litter in its proper place.
5) Students may not have cameras within the confines of the school building. Cell phones and pagers must be turned off and not visible upon entering the school building. School personnel have the right to confiscate electronic devices.
6) Students must use appropriate verbal and non-verbal language at all times.
7) Students must refrain from bullying other students. (See definition of bullying below.)
8) Students must not cause or attempt to cause damage to or misuse school property, or private
property brought on school grounds. Snowball throwing is not permitted.
9) Food and beverages must be consumed in the cafeteria only. Eating and drinking in the hallway or at lockers is not permitted.
10) Instigating, watching or escalating a fight is a punishable offense. Attendance at a fight is considered disorderly conduct and will be subject to severe disciplinary action.
11) Students must identify themselves when asked by school personnel. Students must comply with any reasonable request made of them by a staff member.
Bullying is defined as a willful attempt or threat to inflict injury with actions or words on another person, accompanied by an apparent present ability to do so, or any intentional display of force such as would give the victim reason to fear or expect immediate bodily harm.
DRESS AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE:
Dress and grooming basically is a responsibility of the home and family. Adult society and the world of work make certain demands concerning dress of individuals. There appears to be a definite relationship between good dress habits, good work habits, and proper school behavior. The educational system should, therefore, prepare students for effective living in adult society. Having good taste in dress and grooming establishes school pride. Students are to wear appropriate school clothing that is socially acceptable. Personal appearance should not disrupt the educational process, call undue attention to the individual, or affect the safety or welfare of either the student involved or fellow classmates.
Dress Code: Clothing must meet the following requirements:
1) Does not create a disturbance and is not sexually suggestive.
2) Is not related to drugs, tobacco, alcohol or violence.
3) Does not contain obscenities or gang symbols.
4) Is not offensive or inflammatory to other groups.
5) Outside jackets or coats may not be worn during the school day.
6) Head coverings (examples: hats, bandanas, visors, hoods on hooded sweatshirts, etc.) may be worn to school, but should be removed upon entering the building and must remain in the student’s locker until school is dismissed for the day.
7) All shirts must cover the stomach, back, and bra straps and must provide coverage with an appropriate neckline. Half shirts, spaghetti straps, bare midriff or halter-tops are not permitted. The bottom hem of skirts/shorts/dresses must be no more than 4” above the knee.
8) Feet must be covered at all times with shoes or sandals. Footies/slippers will not be allowed.
9) Pajama bottoms are not appropriate dress for school and are not permitted.
10) Students must wear pants at the waist level. Baggy trousers that hang below waist level of student exposing underwear must not be worn.
