From Superintendent Dr. Johnny Scott, 7th Edition:
Greetings! It's great to be celebrating another exciting school year. I continue to visit our school buildings and many classrooms, and our students remain enthusiastic and energetic. Our staffs in every building continue to work hard and enjoy teaching your children! This combination sets the groundwork for the continuance of the many good things that occur in our schools every day. As I visit schools, students readily share stories about their school and family experiences, their excitement about being in school and the many school activities...to some students asking me "What does a Superintendent do?" I maintain - and our community knows - that Holt Public Schools is a quality school district. In today's uncertain economic climate, coupled with unprecedented educational accountability, a school district with a good reputation is an honor we share with a select few. It is the quality work with students, parents, and our community members that give merit to our reputation. Please know that I am proud of what we achieve in Holt Public Schools - in our classrooms, in our offices, and on our playing fields and stages - but our achievements are not due to complacency and satisfaction with the status quo. Our schools are what they are because of staffs dedicated to the common goal of ensuring that - everyday, every student experiences success in our schools in some way - and are always looking for ways to achieve that goal. This year, as in the past, we will continue to concentrate on processes that spur continuing advancement, evaluate what we have, determine what we can do to improve, and identify what we need to do to make those improvements. In closing, I wish students, staff, and members of the Holt-Dimondale communities the best in 2010. With warm regards,
