A Message from the Holt Education Foundation Board:

Dear Friends:

The Holt Education Foundation, now beginning its 23rd year, is a non-profit organization that partners with Holt Public Schools to sponsor innovative and enhanced teaching and learning projects in our classrooms through competitive mini-grants. To date, over $391,000 in grants have been awarded!  In addition, the Education Foundation awards the Margaret Livensparger Scholarship annually to a high school senior who has exhibited exceptional talent in the performing arts.  If you have attended any of our annual fundraising events or supported our past projects, we thank you.

Please consider sending a donation today to the Holt Education Foundation, 5780 West Holt Rd., Holt, MI  48842.  As schools struggle with uncertain funding, your gift, regardless of size, will continue to support educational opportunities for our students.  The Holt Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Organization (please consult your tax advisor for tax deduction information).  For a brochure with a Gift Form, please click HERE.  Thank you again for your commitment to the students of Holt Public Schools.

ANNUAL PRE-GAME COOKOUT

The Education Foundation's  Annual pre-game Cookout was held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 prior to the home football game vs. Hudsonville.  We would like to thank everyone who came out to support the Holt Rams and the Education Foundation by attending our Cookout!  We enjoyed freshly grilled hot dogs, potato salad, a beverage, chips and a freshly baked cookie.  All proceeds benefit the Holt Education Foundation mini-grant award program.  We'll be doing this again next year, so check back for more news!

GO, RAMS!

ATTENTION, STUDENTS:  SAT PRACTICE WORKSHOP/EXAMS TO BE OFFERED 2016-17

First workshop is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2016...

The Education Foundation will offer two opportunities for our high school students to practice the ‘new’ SAT test in the coming school year.  Workshops take place in the North Campus building.  The cost is $30 per student, with net proceeds benefitting the Holt Education Foundation.  Priority for Holt High School students is given until the registration deadline (4:00 p.m. the Wednesday before the workshop/practice exam date); and the registration fee also goes up slightly.  Be sure to sign up early to reserve your seat!

The information/registration form is posted HERE, and copies of the form are available in the high school counseling offices and the North Campus admin lobby.  Questions?  Contact the Superintendent's office at SuptOfc@hpsk12.net or at 517-694-5715.

MINI-GRANTS

The Holt Education Foundation "Prize Patrol," made up of HEF board members, sweeps through the district each October, handing out balloons and certificates to mini-grant awardees. Last year, a total of almost $6,000 was awarded to fund classroom projects to enhance student learning throughout the district, and this year we will do the same.  The district would like to thank the Holt Education Foundation volunteers who work year-round to raise funds for these worthy projects.

2016-17 recipients will be announced SOON - Watch for the Prize Patrol the first week of November!

SAVE THE DATE:  Community Recognition Dinner - Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Recap:

The annual Holt Education Foundation Community Recognition Dinner took place on Wednesday, March 23, 2016.  We celebrated the accomplishments of the following "Outstanding" people who have contributed much to our schools and community with their "helping hands:"

Outstanding Alumna:  Amanda Hayhoe-Kruger, Class of 1993

Outstanding Community Member:  Terilynn Cook

Outstanding School Employees:

  • Gordon Bieske (Holt High School),
  • Heather Crandall (Midway Early Learning Center/Community Education) and
  • Amy Granger (Dimondale Elementary School)

They join a list of distinguished honorees, posted HERE.  The evening featured entertainment provided by students from our High School Jazz Band and soloist Marina Threadgold.  Mini-grant recipients showcased their teaching and learning projects using various displays, and a silent gift basket auction benefitted individual schools and student programs as well as the Foundation.  We would like to especially thank student Alec Smith for his contribution of two dramatic art pieces donated to benefit the Foundation.  The staff of Chisholm Hills Golf & Banquet Center did an excellent job, as usual!  Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the evening.

MARGARET LIVENSPARGER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The Holt Education Foundation announced Monica Pham as the winner of its Margaret Livensparger Scholarship Award for 2016-17.  This two-year scholarship award is given in honor of Margaret Livensparger, who, among many other things, was a founding member of the Holt Education Foundation and a proponent of the arts.  Congratulations, Monica!
