A Message from the Holt Education Foundation Board:
The Holt Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that partners with Holt Public Schools to sponsor innovative and enhanced teaching and learning projects in our classrooms through competitive mini-grants totaling over $360,000 in the past 20 years. In addition, the Education Foundation awards the Margaret Livensparger Scholarship annually to a high school senior who has exhibited exceptional talent in the performing arts. If you have attended any of our annual fundraising events or supported our past projects, we thank you.
Please consider sending a donation today to the Holt Education Foundation, 5780 West Holt Rd., Holt, MI 48842. As schools struggle in the current economy and with uncertain funding, your gift, regardless of size, will continue to support educational opportunities for our students. The Holt Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Organization (please consult your tax advisor for tax deduction information). Thank you again for your commitment to the students of Holt Public Schools.
The Education Foundation's Annual pre-game Cookout took place on Friday, September 13th prior to the Holt-Lansing Eastern football game, in front of the stadium. Many, many people came early for a meal of a hot dog, baked beans, potato salad, and more! Net proceeds benefit Holt/Dimondale classroom programs and, of course, our students. We want to thank everyone for their annual support - from those who donate items to those who have dinner with us, and also to those who volunteer their time and labor to make this event a success! We hope to see everyone next year! GO, RAMS!
Holt Education Foundation Mini-Grant program: Thank you to all who submitted applications - there were over 25 this year! Award notification took place on November 8th. Please click HERE to see the funded projects.
Do you know a Holt High School student who wants to practice for the ACT test?
The Education Foundation is offering TWO opportunities for students this year. The first ACT Workshop/Practice Exam took place in November. If your student missed it, there is another opportunity on Saturday, January 25, 2014. The nonrefundable cost is $30 per student (net proceeds benefit the Holt Education Foundation). Please click HERE for the information/registration form. Questions may be directed to the Superintendent's office, 694-5715.
The date for the 20th Annual Community Recognition Dinner is set! Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Honoree nomination forms will be available soon, and dinner details will be announced in January.
Thanks to everyone who attended the annual Holt Education Foundation Community Recognition dinner on March 20, 2013! We would also like to thank Mr. Mike Emerson and the Holt High Jazz Band and Mr. Monty Bishop and the Holt Chorale for the wonderful entertainment they provided. Net proceeds from this fundraiser went towards the mini-grant program and the Margaret Livensparger Scholarship Fund. It was a pleasure to honor our community's alumnus, volunteer and school employees:
Outstanding Alumnus: Ervin Gunn, Class of 1960
Outstanding Community Member: Terrence King
Outstanding School Employees: Matt Bliton, Bob Bower, Sandra Kraushaar, Ruth Oda
The Holt Education Foundation announces the winners of its 2013 Margaret Livensparger Scholarship Award. This two-year scholarship award is given in honor of Margaret Livensparger, who, among many other things, was a founding member of the Holt Education Foundation and a proponent of the arts. This year's scholarship recipients are Christopher Gillespie and Allison Pingston. Congratulations!
