A Message from the Holt Education Foundation Board:

Dear Friends:

The Holt Education Foundation, now celebrating its 20th year, is a non-profit organization that partners with Holt Public Schools to sponsor innovative and enhanced teaching and learning projects in our classrooms through competitive mini-grants. To date, over $370,000 in grants have been awarded!  In addition, the Education Foundation awards the Margaret Livensparger Scholarship annually to a high school senior who has exhibited exceptional talent in the performing arts.  If you have attended any of our annual fundraising events or supported our past projects, we thank you.

Please consider sending a donation today to the Holt Education Foundation, 5780 West Holt Rd., Holt, MI  48842.  As schools struggle in the current economy and with uncertain funding, your gift, regardless of size, will continue to support educational opportunities for our students.  The Holt Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Organization (please consult your tax advisor for tax deduction information).  Thank you again for your commitment to the students of Holt Public Schools.

For dedicated service to the district and community, each year the Holt Education Foundation honors an alumnus of Holt Public Schools, a community member (or two), and several school employees.  At this time we are pleased to announce the following Community Recognition Award honorees.

Outstanding Alumnus:

  • Camron Gnass

Outstanding Community Members:

  • Scott Anglebrandt
  • Lori Conarton

Outstanding School Employees:

  • Sherry Childers (Midway)
  • Antoinette Martell (Dimondale)
  • Joann Weil (High School)
  • Ron Wilson (Information Systems)

Congratulations!

Honorees will be recognized at the 20th Annual Community Recognition Dinner on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.  Please save the date on your calendar -- and join us as we thank those who enrich our Holt and Dimondale communities.  The dinner will be held at the Chisholm Hills Golf & Banquet Center beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m.  Dinner, awards and a silent gift basket auction complete the evening.  Tickets will be available in the Superintendent's Office in early March and are $50 each or $360 for a table of eight.  You may also send in checks payable to the Holt Education Foundation, 5780 W. Holt Road, Holt 48842.  For more information, please contact the Superintendent's Office, (517) 694-5715.

ACT practice workshop/test

The Education Foundationoffer up to two opportunities for our high school students to practice the ACT test, usually in the fall and early winter.  The nonrefundable cost is $30 per student (net proceeds benefit the Holt Education Foundation).  Priority for Holt High students is given until the registration deadline.  The information/registration form will be posted here in August and copies will be available in the high school counseling office.  Questions? Call the Superintendent's office, 694-5715.

The Education Foundation's Annual pre-game Cookout takes place in September prior to a home football game in front of the stadium.  Many, many people came early for a meal of a hot dog, baked beans, potato salad, and more!  Net proceeds benefit Holt/Dimondale classroom programs and, of course, our students.  We want to thank everyone for their annual support - from those who donate items to those who have dinner with us, and also to those who volunteer their time and labor to make this event a success!  We hope to see everyone next year! GO, RAMS!

Holt Education Foundation Mini-Grant program:  Thank you to all who submitted applications for teh 2014-15 school year - there were over 25 this year!  Award notification took place on November 8th.   Please click HERE to see the funded projects.

The Holt Education Foundation announced the winners of its 2013 Margaret Livensparger Scholarship Award.  This two-year scholarship award is given in honor of Margaret Livensparger, who, among many other things, was a founding member of the Holt Education Foundation and a proponent of the arts.  The 2013 scholarship recipients are Christopher Gillespie and Allison Pingston.  Congratulations!
