A Message from the Holt Education Foundation Board:
Dear Friends:
The Holt Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that partners with Holt Public Schools to sponsor innovative and enhanced teaching and learning projects in our classrooms through competitive mini-grants totaling over $340,000 in the past 20 years. In addition, the Education Foundation awards the Margaret Livensparger Scholarship annually to a high school senior who has exhibited exceptional talent in the performing arts. If you have attended any of our annual fundraising events or supported our past projects, we thank you.
Please consider sending a donation today to the Holt Education Foundation, 5780 West Holt Rd., Holt, MI 48842. As schools struggle in the current economy and with uncertain funding, your gift, regardless of size, will continue to support educational opportunities for our students. The Holt Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Organization (please consult your tax advisor for tax deduction information). Thank you again for your commitment to the students of Holt Public Schools.
The Holt Education Foundation will soon announce the winners of its 2013 Margaret Livensparger Scholarship Award. This two-year scholarship award is given in honor of Margaret Livensparger, who, among many other things, was a founding member of the Holt Education Foundation and a proponent of the arts. This year's 2013 scholarship recipients are Christopher Gillespie and Allison Pingston. Congratulations!
Thanks to everyone who attended the annual Holt Education Foundation Community Recognition dinner on March 20, 2013! We would also like to thank Mr. Mike Emerson and the Holt High Jazz Band and Mr. Monty Bishop and the Holt Chorale for the wonderful entertainment they provided. Net proceeds from this fundraiser go towards the mini-grant program and the Margaret Livensparger Scholarships. It was a pleasure to honor our community's alumnus, volunteer and school employees:
Outstanding Alumnus: Ervin Gunn, Class of 1960
Outstanding Community Member: Terrence King
Outstanding School Employees: Matt Bliton, Bob Bower, Sandra Kraushaar, Ruth Oda
Members of the Holt Education Foundation board accompanied Superintendent Dr. Johnny Scott while he traveled to classrooms to surprise teachers and students. The reason? To let them know they won an Education Foundation Mini-Grant! Over $21,000 was funded this school year for projects that will affect students in all grades at Holt Public Schools. We thank and congratulate our teachers and staff members for their initiative and creativity. Holt Public Schools is also extremely grateful to the Holt Education Foundation members and our community -- we would not have these wonderful programs without them!

The Education Foundation's Annual pre-game Cookout takes place in mid-September prior to one of the first home football games. Many, many people come early for a meal of a hot dog, baked beans, potato salad, and more! Net proceeds benefit Holt/Dimondale classroom programs and, of course, our students. We want to thank everyone for their annual support - from those who donate items to those who have dinner with us, and also to those who volunteer their time and labor to make this event a success! Don't forget to watch for more information about this annual event tentatively scheduled for September 13, 2013. GO, RAMS!
